Chris Eubank Jr will fight Conor Benn in their long-awaited showdown in April in London. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London is a now the confirmed venue for the fight that will take place on 26 April.
In Tuesday's press conference Chris Eubank Jr smacked an egg round the face of Conor Benn - and couldn't resist making a cheeky joke afterwards. The pair stood toe-to-toe for the first time ahead of their highly-anticipated bout on April 26, and things descended into chaos in Manchester at the end of proceedings.
The bitter rivals were scheduled to meet in October 2022, which would have been 29 years after their revered fathers Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr fought for a second time.
Benn is moving up two divisions from 147lbs to 160lbs to fight Eubank Jr. And the stakes of their bout were heightened even further this week after it was revealed that either Eubank Jr or Benn could land a mega showdown with Canelo Alvarez if they win their grudge fight.
Benn, whose dad Nigel was the middleweight and super-middleweight champion when he fought Eubank's father Chris Sr in the 1990s, will jump two weight divisions for the super-fight. The pair will meet at a catchweight of 156lb almost 29 years to the day since their fathers last fought to a draw at Old Trafford in Manchester.
“I grew up watching their legendary battles and always wanting to emulate that, and find my own arch nemesis... could this now be Conor Benn? We will find out,” said Eubank Jr.“This fight is for the legacy and was an opportunity I felt I couldn't pass up,” said Benn. “My team and I had other options on the table as I'm currently ranked top 5 with all governing bodies at Welterweight and no doubt I'm looking for a World Championship fight very soon, but this fight is embedded with so much history and I know it's one the public really want to see. To me this fight is personal - it's more than titles and rankings, this is unfinished business between our families!”
